  Walking With the wind......

Since the time I was born I didn't have a stable home.
My older sister was very ill, which required us to move frequently,
from one medical facility to the next.
This made it difficult for my parents to keep me with them.

I was cared for by a very loving family (Bobby and Joe).
My second parents, who did more for me than they realize.
Between the time I spent with my parents and the time with my care givers,
I fell in love with the outdoors.

I have experienced many different elements of nature, I have drifted along the Choctaw Bay, wondered the Swampy Woodlands of Florida, Roamed the Deserts and Mountains of Arizona, enjoyed the spirit of the Black Hills and the Prairie.
I would say that the beauty of nature is my inspiration for almost all that I do.

It has taught me about respect, endurance, independence, and love. There is nothing more
spectacular than being in the shadow of a Great Mountain before you climb it. Conquering all that Mother Nature has to offer as a challenge.

I have faced many challenges in my life. There has been Joy, Heartache, Pleasure, and Misery. I have overcome all of the hard times this life has offered me and have started anew.

I moved to the Black Hills area over five yrs. ago. The first time I made the trip to this wondrous place I fell in love with it splendor and beauty, and I knew that this was where I belonged. That it was destined for me to live out my life in the space between the Hills and the Prairie.

I met my Husband here and we live a comfy home that was built by his own two hands.
We have a great Daughter who enjoys Pink Floyd, and the outdoors as much as we do. Our family is very strong and our love is unconditional.

   Dancing in the Breeze......

My Great Grandmother was an Indian Medicine Woman from the Seminole tribe.
As a small child I had the privilege of getting to know her. She would tell me a story, about
how one day we would travel the country in an old horse drawn wagon. She described the Badlands and the Prairie from her own memories of them.

I would lay there by her side and listen to her tell the story, and imagine the sound
of the pots and pans clanking. I could smell the camp fire at night. She taught me how to dream. (envision and obtain)

The same story was told to my mother when she was a child, of how they would stop when they wanted, and camp beside the wagon. Although the fantasy of this story never became a reality, when I ponder upon this memory I can still smell the bacon frying in the pan.

My Mother is a creative soul as well, making clothing , Indian bead jewelry,  and hair pieces. I would sit by her side and watch as she crafted beautiful pieces of art. On many occasions we would wonder through the mountains and collect various rocks. Which enhanced my love for them.

My Mother gave me the Indian name of Crystal Bear when I was a child. As I grew into adulthood I became Walks with Wind. As it turns out both of my Native Indian names have proved to be quite true. I have the spirit of a Bear that loves to travel! Ferocious and untamed, yet soft and loving.

Although my Great Grandmothers spirit has moved on, her story still lives within me.
I have traveled the country by my own means, stopping only where I wanted. My journey has brought me here to this place, The mystical Black Hills area. Such a place only existed in my dreams, until I discovered it had been waiting for me all along.

 Winds are changing......

Ahhh summer, my warm and loving friend,
it is always sad to watch you come to an end.

As the leaves turn gold and the air grows cold,
I realize this year is getting old.

Now Winter is here, it's almost a new year,
and I can feel the bite of the wind.

Of course now its spring, can you hear the birds sing?
They say it will be summer once more.

I feel the wind is blowing so I leave you with the words of an old friend
who is no longer with us......

Play as hard as you work......

God bless,
Crystal Dawn
